Every spirit house that contains an invert sugar content of 100 g / liter or achieves the same sweetness with a different type of sugar is defined as a liqueur. For EU products, this beverage sweetness requirement is mandatory. Cream liqueurs, the so-called creams, must even contain at least 250 g sugar per liter - and some even more: Crème de Cassis, for example, is only in the race with 400 g sugar per liter. (No wonder the stuff is so delicious!) Since many liqueurs are used for cocktails, the color often plays a major role. Many are therefore dyed, natural or artificial. The majority of the liqueurs have an alcohol content between 15 and 40% vol. You can find liqueurs with volume percentages below and above this range. In order to fully enjoy the aroma of a liqueur, you need a few small rules, a beverage temperature of ideally 18 degrees - high-quality liqueurs can generally be tasted a bit warmer - and the right glass. Special liqueur or sweet wine glasses are suitable. When pouring out, the glass is swiveled in a circular motion so that the taste can develop fully.
