In the 1950s, Jean BRON began making vegetable slicers out of steel instead of wood. This was the birth of the "mandoline", which today is the epitome of particularly high-quality stainless steel kitchen graters with adjustable cutting thicknesses and various blade inserts and is highly valued by the world's chefs.
